About us
Cassiltoun Trust was established in 2000. Its purpose was to oversee the restoration and development of Castlemilk Stables and create a sustainable community asset.
Castlemilk Stables is now a Glasgow landmark building and Cassiltoun Trust not only manages the running of the historic building but also the delivery of mutiple projects that benefit the wider Castlemilk Community.
Since 2009 the Trust has expanded its remit and now plays a major role in the regeneration and activities in Castlemilk Park which is situated adjacent to the Stables.
This was a natural progression as the Stables and the Park were part of the estate of the Stuart family until the early 20th Century and now both play a key role in creating opportunities and tackling mutiple forms of isolation, poverty and disadvantage.
The Trust is a Scottish charity, a company limited by guarantee and wholly owned subsidiary of Cassiltoun Housing Association Ltd.
Cassiltoun Trust's Strategic Objectives are :
- To empower our local community and extended communities to make positive changes in their lives by providing and enabling education/training, employment, health and leisure time opportunities.
- Promote, enhance and preserve the public’s knowledge of Castlemilk’s rich history and heritage.
- To continue to preserve the historical and architectural significance of Castlemilk Stables for the local and extended community and to promote the preservation of other historical landmarks in the area.
- To promote, influence and implement local and national strategies that assist and drive community led economic regeneration and development.
