Cassiltoun Housing Association are using ground source heat pumps to heat and provide hot water for Castlemilk Stables.
Heat from the ground is absorbed at low temperatures into a fluid inside the bore holes in the ground. The fluid then passes through a compressor that raises the temperature of the water which can be used for heating the rooms. The cooled fluid passes back into the ground where it absorbs further heat energy from the ground.
Castlemilk Stables has over 20 boreholes situated at the back of the courtyard supplying heat to the GSHP.
